Bank Quay Bulls say NO to dog fouling 🐶💩
It may be hard to comprehend but games at Dallam Fields, the home of Bank Quay Bulls Rugby League Club, are often blighted by irresponsible dog owners letting their dogs foul on the pitches, which can cause all types of problems for the young players.
The problem has got so bad that the Club have teamed up with the Warrington Wolves Foundation, Cheshire Police and Warrington Borough Council to help tackle the problem.
Before formal action is taken against irresponsible dog owners, the Bank Quay Club suggested it would be a good idea if some of the younger players designed posters to help raise awareness and hopefully deter those who let their dogs foul on the pitches. The Foundation thought this was a great idea and helped set up a competition to design posters that the Council offered to convert into banners.
Today at the Haliwell Jones, the four winners were presented with their prizes by former Bank Quay player and Wolves Star Leon Hayes and were congratulated by Wolfie for their great work.
Foundation Community Club Development Officer Peter Astley said, “it is sad that we must tackle this problem caused by selfish and irresponsible dog owners. We hope the banners send a message to these small number of people and games can take place at Bank Quay without fear of young players being covered in dog poo, which as well as being anti-social, can have serious health risks such as Toxocariasis which can cause blindness. The young designers have done such a great job and I’d like to thank, Leon, the Bank Quay Chair Kelly Cragg, the Police and Council for supporting this work”.
