Rugby league just got a whole lot brighter and bolder, thanks to the amazing girls in our Rugbees programme!
Designed especially for girls aged 6 to 11, Rugbees is all about fun, friendship, and fearless play. Through energetic games and playful activities, the programme helps girls build confidence, develop new skills, and most importantly, have a blast while staying active. And on Sunday 20th July, our Rugbees girls showed exactly what the programme is all about in a day full of energy, excitement, and unforgettable memories.
The day kicked off with ten of our brilliant Rugbees taking part in the Family Mile, a community celebration marking 20 years of the Warrington Wolves Foundation. With beaming smiles and boundless enthusiasm, the girls ran their hearts out, showing off not just their determination, but their amazing teamwork too. From high-fives to cheers of encouragement, their spirit was contagious!
But the magic didn’t stop there…
After proudly receiving their medals, the girls had the incredible honour of walking out alongside the Warrington Wolves Women’s team, a moment that perfectly showcased the thriving women and girls' pathway in our sport. Watching their role models in action, the girls lit up the stands with cheers, shouts, and massive grins. The connection between these future stars and today’s heroes was something truly special.
And just when we thought the day couldn’t get any better… it did.
With the crowd behind them, the Rugbees girls took to the pitch at the Asics Stadium for a tag rugby match of their own! Under the roar of supporters, they dazzled with impressive tries, bold defence, and a level of confidence that lit up the field. Every pass, run, and tackle was a glowing reminder of how empowering and joyful rugby league can be when girls are given the space to thrive.
Since launching, Rugbees has already welcomed over 100 girls into the sport and Sunday was a shining example of the programme’s impact. More than just games, it’s about memories, self-belief, and belonging.
Know a girl who might want to give rugby league a go?
We’d love to welcome her to the team!
