The Foundation is incredibly proud of the work undertaken with our local secondary schools. With an equal focus on girls and boys, the girls game is rapidly developing..
Through 3 competitions, players can access the Sky Try 9’s and the Legends Local 13-a-side competition as well as competing nationally in a Tier 1 champion schools competition. In 2019, Great Sankey High and Beamont Collegiate Academy made it to the final at Wembley with Great Sankey taking the crown just before they witnessed Warrington Wolves winning and lifting the Challenge Cup.
As well as the competitive element of the work in schools we also offer coaching in PE Lessons as well as After School Clubs tailored to ability and experience.
As the lead of Rugby at King’s Leadership Academy, the Warrington Wolves Foundation has been a key reason in our success in raising the standards of rugby for both boys and girls at our school.
The Foundation has provided support and training throughout the past 4 years. They have supported with CPD sessions for staff, to enable the PE department to teach high quality rugby league lessons. The Foundation has also supported King’s with the delivery of our after school rugby enrichment.
This year, as a school, we have managed to get fixtures for all year groups and have been highly successful. We have also set up our girls rugby league club this year and incorporated this into lessons with all the girls in Y7 and Y8 now participating in 7 weeks of rugby. Our girls teams have gone from strength to strength, with over 30 girls now representing the school in rugby and our U13’s and U14’s team currently competing in the semi finals of the North West Counties.
The Foundation has supported us and no question is too much of a hassle. Whatever we need as a school we have been supported with. Thanks to Lee, Ryan and Lee for the work they have done.
