Power Hockey Takes Warrington by Storm

Written by Amanda Hunt | Oct 22, 2025 2:45:04 PM

We’re still buzzing after our third Power Hockey Taster Session, hosted in collaboration with the GB Power Hockey Association. This fast, inclusive, full-contact sport has been gaining national attention, even being showcased at last month’s Wheelchair Rugby League Grand Final live on Sky Sports — and now Warrington is proud to play its part in growing the game.

Power Hockey is more than just sport. The GB Power Hockey Association describes it as giving “physically disabled people, many with life-limiting impairments, a chance to play competitive sport similar to what they see on the rugby field.” At the Warrington Wolves Community Foundation, we’re thrilled to bring this opportunity to our town, opening doors for people to be active, compete, and belong.

A Diverse Range of Participants

The session saw a diverse range of participants from across our Foundation programmes, including:

  • Chris from our new SEND Day Provision

  • Issac and Freddie, twins from the Junior Physical Disability Rugby League team

  • Members from our Touch Rugby sessions

  • Lucas, from our LD programme, also came to support the session

Special thanks also go to Pete Wyman and Team Greenbank Sports Academy Liverpool for their help in making the session run smoothly.

Familiar Faces and New Smiles

A huge shout-out to Eva, Alan, and Leam, who returned after attending our first taster session — their energy and smiles continue to inspire everyone around them. And of course, Wolfie joined in the fun, showing off some impressive Power Hockey skills and bringing plenty of laughs to the court!

Looking Ahead: Slater Gordon Power Hockey Cup 2025

We’re excited to announce that the Warrington Wolves Community Foundation will be entering a couple of teams into the Slater Gordon Power Hockey Cup 2025, on Sunday 2nd November.

This session is also part of the RFL Week of Social Impact, celebrating the ways rugby league connects and inspires communities.

At the Warrington Wolves Community Foundation, our mission is simple: to make Warrington happier, healthier, and more connected. Seeing participants from across our programmes come together, share the same pitch, and enjoy the game is exactly what that looks like in action.
