Amentum, which employs more than 1,500 people in Warrington, has pledged its support to the Heroes of the WIRE Memorial Bike Ride, helping to bring the powerful international cycling challenge to life in June 2026. The four-day ride will see participants travel across Northern France and Belgium, visiting the battlefields, memorials and resting places of the 11 Warrington players who lost their lives during the First World War, before finishing at the iconic Menin Gate for the Last Post Ceremony. ![BS-5960](https://26662234.fs1.hubspotusercontent-eu1.net/hub/26662234/hubfs/BS-5960.jpg?width=1200&length=1200&name=BS-5960.jpg) Organised by the Warrington Wolves Community Foundation, the event is believed to be the first of its kind to connect the exact locations where the club’s fallen players fought and died with the memorials where they are remembered today. As headline sponsor, Amentum’s support will play a vital role in ensuring the success of the memorial ride, helping to deliver a memorable and respectful experience for all involved while raising vital funds for the Foundation’s work across Warrington. Through programmes focused on mental health, disability inclusion, education and community sport, the Warrington Wolves Community Foundation works year-round to make Warrington a happier, healthier and more connected town. Neil Kelly (CEO), Warrington Wolves Community Foundation said “We’re incredibly proud to welcome Amentum as our headline sponsor for the Heroes of the WIRE Memorial Bike Ride. This is a deeply meaningful event for our club and our town, giving us the opportunity to honour the 11 Warrington players who made the ultimate sacrifice during the First World War. Amentum’s support allows us to deliver this tribute in the way it deserves, while also helping us continue our work across Warrington, supporting people to live happier, healthier and more connected lives. We’re looking forward to working together to make this a truly special and memorable experience for everyone involved.”   Loren Jones, Senior Vice President and head of Amentum’s Energy & Environment-International business, said: “We are committed to making a long-term, positive and enduring impact on the communities where we operate. That’s why we support the Warrington Wolves Community Foundation and the work they do to improve the quality of life for people who live here. “As a major employer of military veterans and reservists, we are proud to be associated with this unique fundraising effort.” The Heroes of the WIRE Memorial Bike Ride will take place in June 2026, with riders cycling approximately 225 miles along parts of the Western Front as they honour the legacy of the Warrington players who never returned from the war. Funds raised through the challenge will directly support the Foundation’s community programmes across Warrington.
