Over the past few months, we’ve been working closely with **local schools across Warrington**, delivering practical workshops to pupils aged **12 to 18**. The sessions aim to break down stigma, encourage honest conversations, and equip young people with the tools they need to look out for one another.   ![Screenshot 2025-05-13 112552](https://26662234.fs1.hubspotusercontent-eu1.net/hub/26662234/hubfs/Screenshot%202025-05-13%20112552.png?width=1200&length=1200&name=Screenshot%202025-05-13%20112552.png)   **Being a Smart ALEC** At the core of our workshops is the *Smart ALEC* approach – a simple, memorable acronym that gives students a clear way to respond if they’re worried about a friend: - **A – Ask**: Check in and ask how they’re really doing. - **L – Listen**: Give them space to talk without interrupting or judging. - **E – Encourage Action**: Help them think about positive next steps – like talking to a trusted adult or seeking professional support. - **C – Check In**: Keep in touch and let them know you care. It’s about being a good mate – and making sure no one feels like they have to face tough times alone.   **Thank You to Our Partner Schools** We’re incredibly grateful to the schools who have taken part in the program so far. Over the coming months, we’ll be expanding the *Ahead of the Game* program to reach even more **schools, community clubs, parents, and coaches**. We’re kicking things off with a **Team Managers' workshop at the stadium this Wednesday evening**, where we’ll be sharing the Smart ALEC approach and practical strategies to support young athletes and their mental wellbeing.
